In Vitro Fertilization, or IVF, is a method of fertilization that takes place outside the body and most closely resembles natural fertilization by allowing natural selection where only the strongest sperm will be able to fertilize the oocyte. This method is a suitable option for persons with infertility problems that are not very severe.
Ovarian Stimulation: Hormones and medications are adjusted during the cycle depending upon the development of follicles in the ovaries. Attentive monitoring can be done by measuring levels of hormones in the blood and using trans-vaginal ultrasound scan to prevent the risk of ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome.
In the egg collection procedure, a fine needle is attached to the scan probe, which is passed into the ovary trans-vaginally. Each egg is placed in special fluid before being placed in a monitored incubator. However, the number of follicles seen on the scan rarely corresponds to the number of eggs present.
The sperm is prepared by separating the normal and moving sperm from the ejaculated fluid on the same day as egg collection. We advise sexual abstinence for 2-3 days before the collection. If the quality or quantity of the sample is not sufficient for IVF, the doctor may recommend that fertilization should be done by Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) instead

Then, the sperm and eggs are placed together in the assigned dishes and left in the incubator for 16-18 hours to allow fertilization to take place. As embryos develop their cells divide embryologists will monitor the embryos until they develop to blastocyst stage. At Chularat 11 IVF Center, quality control and safety of the embryos is our priority that is why we provide modern security system which operates 24 hours a day.
One or two of the best embryos are transferred to the uterus. This procedure is simple and no sedation is required. The catheter guided by abdominal ultrasound is gently inserted through the cervical channel and into the uterine cavity. The catheter is then removed and checked to confirm that the embryo(s) has been transferred. It is advisable to avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting until your abdomen has less pain. Sexual intercourse can be resumed after one week or as your doctor recommendation
Different forms of progesterone will be prescribed to support the implantation after embryo transfer the dosages will depend on the hormone levels in the blood and the type of medication that has previously been administered. Approximately 9 days after embryo transfer, if the pregnancy test is positive the couples will be asked to return to the hospital within 1-2 weeks for their first ultrasound scan. If the pregnancy appears normal hormone supplements will be given until 8-12 weeks of gestation.
Couples Are Candidates for IVF When:
The female partner has occluded or obstructed fallopian tubes.
The female partner has numerous pelvic adhesions and has received surgical treatment to no effect.
The female partner has endometriosis and has been ineffectively treated for this condition by other methods.
The male partner has low quality sperm and has received treatment by other methods to no effect.
The causes of infertility are unknown.
IVF Success Rate
IVF success depends on several factors, such as the age of the female party, oocyte quality and quality of sperm. In general, the chances of pregnancy are fifteen to thirty-five percent and infants may have disabilities no different from natural pregnancy.
